The present invention achieves a touch panel-equipped display device with which it is possible to perform highly accurate touch detection of side surfaces of a casing (1) by a simple control and without adding separate hardware such as a high-cost sensor. Side surface electrode sections in the touch panel-equipped display device are capable of electrically connecting to Y-direction electrode sections by capacitive coupling. Consequently, a change in the capacitive coupling when a side surface electrode section is touched by a finger or the like is reflected in a sense signal acquired by the Y-direction electrode sections. In other words, touching a side surface electrode section in this touch panel-equipped display device can be detected using the sense signal. Therefore, touching a side surface electrode section in this touch panel-equipped display device can be detected using signal processing and hardware for touch detection in conventional touch panels. |
