Apparatus for desalinating water comprising a chamber or tank 6 containing salt water/saline/brine. First 8 and second 9 ducts allow saline to enter and exit the chamber respectively, the saline occupying a lower portion of the chamber 7. At least one third duct 1 allows ambient air into the chamber above the level of the saline. Upon colliding with the saline the air aids evaporation creating a water vapour and air mix. A fourth duct allows this vapour/air mix to exit the chamber to a fifth duct 3 that passes through the saline in the chamber, acting as a heat exchanger to cool and condense the vapour/air mix. A sixth duct is connected to the fifth duct, connecting it to a container to collect the desalinated water 4. A fan 5 located between the fourth and fifth ducts facilitates the airflow through the system. |
