A disc brake, for an aircraft wheel, comprises friction discs 20, 30, e.g. rotor discs 20a, 30a and stator discs 20b, 30b, a torsion tube 11 on which the discs 20, 30 are fitted, a rear plate 12 which is located at one end of the tube, and a support 13 for mounting braking actuators 14, 15 at another end of the tube. The actuators 14, 15 are selectively activated in order to apply a pressing force to the discs 20, 30. The discs 20, 30 includes a first group 20 which can be used alone for braking below a specific braking torque threshold, e.g. while taxiing, and a second group 30 which can be used alone or in conjunction with the first group 20 for braking above the threshold, such as at take-off/landing. A single actuator (16, fig 2A) may be used to move, via a dynamometric mechanism 44, different pushing member 42, 43 so as to apply the different torque thresholds. The disc groups may be in series one behind the other. |
