Provided is a rubber composition for tires which brings about lower rolling resistance and better wet grip performance than on conventional levels. This rubber composition for tires is characterized by comprising a diene-based rubber, silica, and a silane coupling agent. The rubber composition is further characterized in that the shear modulus (G') of the rubber composition measured at 110°C and a shear strain of 0.28% and a function (ν) involving the CTAB specific surface area (CTAB) of the silica, the volume proportion (φ) of the silica in the rubber composition, and the stress at 100% elongation (M100) of the rubber composition satisfy the following equation (i): G'=K×ν (in the equation (i), K is a coefficient greater than 0 but not greater than 450 and ν is represented by the following equation (ii): ν=φ×(1+0.0258×CTAB×M100) and is a real number of 2.5-20). |
