The present invention relates to a method and a device for managing a DRM right object and, more specifically, to a method and a device for downloading and managing a DRM right object by communicating with a device, which does not support a DRM technique, through a UPnP network. The method for managing a DRM right object according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps: requesting meta information of content needed to download a right object to a media server existing on the UPnP network through a terminal without a separate request by a media server which has downloaded particular content; determining whether a right object is downloaded, through the terminal, by using the meta information of the content; requesting information needed to download a right object to the media server when a right object needs to be downloaded as a result of the determination, and requesting download of a particular right object to a right object issuing institute by using information received in response to the request; and providing a right object according to the request to the media server by the terminal. |
