<p>The invention relates to an electronic percussion instrument, such as a set of electronic drums. According to the invention, the instrument comprises a plurality of individual percussion elements, such as electronic cymbal (1c), hi-hat and electronic drum (1t) which are generically named pads, where a pad comprises one or several sensors (8) which can be piezo-electric transducers, the electric signals incoming from these sensors (8) being processed in a first stage by a preprocessing circuit (9) and then transmitted by some connection lines (10) to both a trigger circuit (11) and an analogue-to-digital converter (12), said circuits (11 and 12) communicating through a data bus (13) with the other pad components, i.e. an input/output interface (14), a non-volatile memory (15), a volatile memory (16), a central processing unit (17), some counters (18) and a wireless emission-reception module (19) by means of which each pad communicates to a central controller (2), named Pad Controller, which receives information from each pad regarding the stroke characteristics, interprets them and, on its basis, generates commands transmitted to a sound generator (3) connected to a sound system (4), the central controller (2) comprising, in its turn, a pad interconnecting module (5), named Pad Hub, which communicates bidirectionally to a user interface (6) by means of which a percussionist may establish configuration settings for each pad, and unidirectionally to a data processor (7) which is thereby in communication with the sound generator (3).</p> |
