Slack storage device (10) for handling excess-length of fiber optic cables, comprising: a housing (24) having a mounting wall (25); and a plurality of guide elements (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39) mounted to the mounting wall (25) of the housing (24). The guide elements (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39) mounted to the mounting wall (25) of the housing (24) are grouped in vertically oriented columns (40, 41, 42), namely in a first outer column (40) being positioned adjacent to a first side (43) of the housing (24), a second outer column (41) being positioned adjacent to a second side (44) of the housing (24) and a middle column (42) positioned between the outer columns (40, 41). The guiding elements (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37) of the outer columns (40, 41) are positioned between a bottom end (46) and a top end (45) of the mounting wall (24), wherein the guiding elements (38, 39) of the middle column (42) are positioned adjacent to the bottom end (46) of the mounting wall (25) in a region of a bottom section (47) of the mounting wall (25), namely each of the guide elements in a predetermined location such that the distances between adjacent guide elements at least within the outer columns (40, 41) provide for a specified amount of at least one fiber optic cable to be stored in the slack storage device (10) when the respective fiber optic cable is guided around one guide element (26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31) of the first outer column (40), then around one guide element (38, 39) of the middle column (42) and then around one guide element (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37) of the second outer column (41) thereby providing a M-like cable loop of the respective fiber optic cable. |
