<p>The invention relates to a process for preparing poly 3-hydroxyoctanoic acid (PHO). According to the invention, the process consists in cultivating the microorganism Pseudomonas fluorescens in a mineral medium comprising 0.25% sodium octanoate and 2% sodium citrate, for 48h, in conditions of aeration by stirring, on a rotary stirrer with 220 rpm, at a temperature of 28...32°C and an initial pH of 7.5, afterwards the medium being centrifuged and the resulting native humid biomass being subjected to a series of washing operations with distilled water and methanol, then the biomass is suspended in a mixture comprising hypochlorite and chloroform in a ratio of 1 : 3, it is kept for 2 h at a temperature of 37...40°C under moderate stirring, then the phases formed are rapidly separated through a separation funnel, the chloroformic phase having a content of 79.6% mole of PHO being retained.</p> |
