Process for preparing dispersion of calcium hydroxide particles and apparatus for making the same

In the present invention, there is disclosed a process for preparing dispersion of calcium hydroxide particles having the size in the order of nm units to m units in an alcohol wherein the preparation process is characterized in that aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)i2) is supplied into a flowing water-miscible precipitation medium. By mixing thereof, solid particles of calcium hydroxide precipitate from the calcium hydroxide aqueous solution, which are subsequently separated from the mixture of the precipitation medium with water and then dispersed within a dispersion medium in a concentration of at least 5 g.1e-1, whereby water-miscible alcohol is used as the precipitation medium and ethanol, isopropyl alcohol or a mixture thereof is used as the dispersion medium. Apparatus for making the above-described preparation process consists of a container (14) for mixing a flowing precipitation medium with an aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide with inlets (15, 16) of both the liquids. The container is provided with an agitating gear and has its inlet connected to a separation device (21) for the separation of the precipitated calcium hydroxide particles, wherein said separation device (21) has a discharge of a mixture of water and precipitation medium and an outlet (19) of calcium hydroxide particles opening into a dispersion container (12) of calcium hydroxide in the dispersion medium.
