This ultrasonic observation apparatus is provided with: a frequency analyzing unit that calculates a frequency spectrum by analyzing, using different parameters depending on whether a contrast agent is present, the frequency of an ultrasonic wave in a region of interest that is set for a subject; a feature amount calculating unit that calculates the feature amount for the frequency spectrum calculated by the frequency analyzing unit; and a feature amount image data generating unit that generates feature amount image data that displays visual information relating to the feature amount calculated by the feature amount calculating unit in different display modes depending on whether a contrast agent is present. |
