The present invention provides a composition comprising an Ecklonia cava extract as an active ingredient for alleviating, preventing or treating pains. The composition of the present invention exhibits an effect for preventing pains when the composition is administered to a subject before the subject gets pains as well as having effects for alleviating and treating pains which have occurred. The composition of the present invention exhibits a remarkable pain relief effect even through oral administration as well as through intravenous injection, application to skin, or the like, and thus the composition can be highly applicable to food.
