The present invention relates to an operating system for a plant protection system of a nuclear power plant and an operating method using the same. An operating system according to the present invention includes a safety system sensor which senses the operation state of the plant protection system; a non-safety system sensor which senses the same operation state as the safety system sensor and is not affected by common cause failures; and a determination part which determines the common cause failures when there is a difference between the sensed value of the safety system sensor and the sensed value of the non-safety system sensor with regard to the same operation state.
