1. An infant insert for use in a child carrier to carry an infant comprising:
a flexible panel defining an area for holding an infant, the flexible panel having an inner surface, an outer surface, a bottom edge and side edges, the side edges folded toward each other proximate to the bottom edge to form a curved shape that narrows toward the bottom of the flexible panel, a tapered front opening without a supportive crotch strap arranged to pass between the infant's legs and a bottom cushion opening at the bottom of the area for holding the infant, wherein the tapered front opening is tapered from a top end to a bottom end of the front opening and extends through to the area for holding the infant such that the tapered front opening is open through to the infant's legs and torso when the infant is positioned in the area for holding the infant, the flexible panel sized to provide support along the infant's spine and neck, the front opening configured to accommodate both the infant's legs; and a cushion disposed in the cushion opening extending from a back side to a front side across the bottom of the area for holding the infant, adapted to support the infant forward of the infant's tailbone and along a portion of the thighs when in use; wherein the infant insert is sized and configured for placement in a child carrying area of a front wearable child carrier to accommodate the infant in a wearer facing position with the infant's legs extending out the tapered front opening and promote a position with the infant's knees raised at least 90 degrees from the coronal plane. |
