According to the present invention, disclosed are a secondary battery of which an opened surface is sealed by using a cylindrical case and a method for manufacturing a secondary battery. According to the present invention, the secondary battery comprises: a pouch exterior including cylindrical pouch which forms an internal space by opening one end or both ends, and sealing the opened part after an electrode assembly is accommodated in the internal space; and the electrode assembly which comprises a plurality of electrode plates and an electrode tab, wherein the electrode plates are accommodated in the internal space of the pouch exterior in a stacked shape with a separation plate between the electrode plates, and the electrode tab is expanded from the electrode plates. According to the present invention, a sealing width of the secondary battery is eliminated by the cylindrical pouch exterior to increase energy density of the secondary battery. |
