1. A method comprising:
by a computing device, providing for display a digest comprising one or more interactive elements that each correspond to a message or notification; by the computing device, receiving first user input selecting one of the interactive elements; by the computing device, in response to the first user input providing for display the message or notification corresponding to the selected interactive element without launching an application on the computing device associated with the message or notification corresponding to the interactive element that was selected; by the computing device, receiving second user input interacting with the message or notification provided for display; by the computing device, in response to the second user input executing a function corresponding to the interaction without launching the application; by the computing device, receiving third user input to cycle through a predetermined portion of the digest of one or more additional interactive elements, wherein the predetermined portion of the digest is based on a priority of one or more applications associated with the interactive elements in the digest; and by the computing device, in response to the third user input cycling through the predetermined portion of the digest while the computing device is in a locked state.
