Multi-cell WTRUs configured to perform mobility procedures and methods

Dual-cell or multi-cell Wireless Transmit Receive Units (WTRUS) configured to implement mobility procedures are described. The WTRU configurations implement methods to optimize and allow mobility for the procedures of cell search and cell reselection, measurement reporting and inter-frequency handovers, compressed mode measurements, and soft handovers.

1. A method for a multi-carrier wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
determining that the WTRU is configured to receive downlink communications via a plurality of cells using a single carrier frequency; receiving downlink communications from the plurality of cells via the single carrier frequency, wherein the plurality of cells includes an anchor cell and a supplementary cell associated with a single Node B; receiving a signal from one or more of the plurality of cells via the single carrier frequency; and performing a mobility procedure on one of the plurality of cells based on the received signal from the one or more of the plurality of cells via the single carrier frequency, wherein the mobility procedure comprises changing one of the plurality of cells from which the downlink communications are received via the single carrier frequency.
