The present invention relates to an automobile diagnosis communications apparatus and method and, particularly, to an automobile diagnosis communications apparatus and method which directly couples a diagnosis communications bus to an internal bus after security authentication is completed to maintain security and to enhance communications speed. To this end, the present invention provides the automobile diagnosis communication apparatus connected to an external device to perform diagnosis, which comprises: a control unit, when connected to the external device, checks information on a diagnosis communication controller needing an access from the external device which has performed the security authentication to be successful in the security authentication and outputting a direct bus coupling circuit control signal according to the check result; a gateway composed of a direct bus coupling circuit unit forming an automobile communication channel between the external device and the diagnosis communication controller such that the communication channel is physically coupled according to the direct bus coupling circuit control signal; and the diagnosis communication controller performing a direct routing operation with the external device by the direct bus coupling circuit unit.
