FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to improved method of obtaining 5-(arylmethylene)hexahydropyrimidine-2,4,6-triones of general formula III. Compounds can be applied as potential antispasmodic and soporific means. Compounds of formula III a-fwhere IIIa R = H; b R = 4-CHO; c R = 4-MeN; d R = 4-Cl; e R = 3-NO; f R = 2-OH, are obtained by reaction of condensation at heating of 2,4,6-pyrimidinetrione I for 45 minutes with 1,1-fold excess of aromatic aldehydes II a-f in ethanol.
