DEVICE FOR DETERMINING THE FRICTION COEFFICIENT IN INTRAVENOUS CATHETERS.

Presented is a device for determining the friction coefficient in intravenous catheters, the design of this dynamic impact equipment has been proposed as an alternative to measure the friction coefficient of different materials used to manufacture medical equipment. The experimental test consists in striking with a pendulum, a catheter mounted in a support, using the mass of the pendulum abandoned in a free fall from a pre-established height, where the energy absorbed by the catheter will displace the same through the support (covered with DLC), the moment of the impact will be useful for obtaining the required information for acquiring the friction coefficient.
