<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst capable of demonstrating a high methane decomposition capacity even at low temperatures in the oxidation removal of methane in treatment gas containing methane and excessive oxygen, and a method for the oxidation removal of methane in the treatment gas using the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst performs the oxidation removal of methane in treatment gas containing methane and excessive oxygen. The catalyst supports platinum, iridium, and rhenium to a support composed of a titanium oxide or a tin oxide. Furthermore, in the method for the oxidation removal of methane in the treatment gas containing methane and excessive oxygen, the treatment gas is brought into contact with the catalyst at a temperature of 300-450°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
