1,190,396. Moulding propylene polymers. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 14 Sept., 1967 [15 Sept., 1966], No. 41971/67. Heading C3P. Homopolymers of propylene and copolymers of propylene with one or more other olefins and which contain at least 90% of propylene units, and which are made by a gas-phase polymerization process and which contain at least 15% by weight of polymeric material soluble in boiling n-heptane under standard pressure, and less than 100 p.p.m. of ash constituents are moulded into articles. The polymer may be moulded per se or mixed with pigments, stabilizers, ageing retardants, fillers, or other polymers such as polyethylene or vinyl chloride. The polymerization is preferably effected in the presence of a catalyst comprising TiCl 3 .1/3 AlCl 3 and which yields at least 10,000 parts by weight of polymer per part of TiCl 3 . 1/3 AlCl 3 . The polymers and compositions thereof may be moulded by known techniques into filaments, threads, fibres, tapes, ribbons, films, and sheets, and these may be monoaxially or bi-axially stretched after formation.
|
