a) a hydrophilic silicab) is first brought into contact with from 5 to 40 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of hydrophilic silica of an α,ω-hydroxy-terminated oligodimethylsiloxane with an average molar mass of from 166 to 800 g/mol, where the contact takes place at temperatures of from −10° C. to 50° C., andc) then allowing the resultant reaction mixture to stand for at least 3 days at temperatures of from −10° C. to 50° C.
