PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger used to dissipate heat in rechargeable batteries and other power generating cells.SOLUTION: A heat exchanger structure is used for a battery unit that includes a first battery stack including a plurality of battery cells and a second battery stack including a plurality of battery cells. The heat exchanger structure is arranged between opposing faces of the first and second battery stacks, defines one or more fluid passages, and is dimensionally compliant so as to contract under expansion of the first and second battery stacks and expand under subsequent contraction of the first and second battery stacks.
