PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce latency of memory read by a device connected to an image processing apparatus while suppressing expansion of circuit scale in the image processing apparatus.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes a plurality of image processing sections each for acquiring image data from an image storage medium and processing the image data. The image processing apparatus also includes a data storage processing section which reads image data from the image storage medium in accordance with a read instruction and stores the read image data on a processing target image storage medium to store the image data thereon; a storage medium control section for storing predetermined control information on a control information storage medium which stores predetermined control information indicating a storage region in the image storage medium for image data which should be acquired by one of the plurality of image processing sections; and a switching control section which performs switching to make the image processing section which should acquire image data from the storage region indicated in the predetermined control information, acquire image data from the processing target image storage medium among the plurality of image processing sections in accordance with operational situations of the plurality of image processing sections.
