[Class 65 (i)] A vertically-supported door or window has a spring 6 connected at one end to an offset pivot 2 on the frame 1 slightly behind the hinge axis, and at the other end to an offset pivot 3 on the door &c. 4, the arrargement being such that as the door &c. is pushed open, the spring resistance gradually decreases until, when the door has been opened about 90 degrees, the resistance is nil, and beyond this point, the spring acts in the opposite direction to open the door further. A dashpot check 8, 10 may be arranged between the pivots 2, 3 as shown in Fig. 3. |
