PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible storage system.SOLUTION: A storage system 1000 includes a plurality of memory cells and a storage controller. The storage controller 1010 manages cell mode information directly or indirectly indicating the number of bits that are to be stored in the plurality of memory cells. The cell mode information can be changed according to a request from a management system.
