PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery system by which the safety can be ensured in a simple and convenient manner.SOLUTION: A battery system including a redox flow battery comprises: a battery unit having a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a diaphragm; a positive electrode electrolytic tank for storing a positive electrode electrolyte supplied to the battery; and a negative electrode electrolytic tank for storing a negative electrode electrolyte supplied to the battery unit. The battery system further comprises: a gas-supply source of flow gas containing an inert gas; an introduction pipe for introducing the flow gas into a gaseous phase in the positive electrode electrolytic tank and a gaseous phase in the negative electrode electrolytic tank; a flow gas passage including exhaust pipes for gas exhaustion from the gaseous phases in the electrolytic tanks; and a gas-flow-rate-control mechanism for constantly supplying the flow gas from the gas-supply source to the gaseous phase in the positive electrode electrolytic tank, and the gaseous phase in the negative electrode electrolytic tank. |
