Provided is an electric motor equipped with a stator having a core having a tooth around which a plurality of layers of windings are wound at a preset pitch, wherein the windings of adjacent layers are wound so as to slope. The electric motor has: a first winding portion in which the n-th layer winding is wound from the outer diameter side of the stator to the inner diameter side thereof so as to form the space of one pitch or more of the winding at a preset site; and a second winding portion that is wound from the inner diameter side of the stator to the outer diameter side thereof continuously from the first winding portion so as to fill the space and intersects with the first winding portion. In the electric motor, the space is provided in an intermediate portion of the tooth in a radial direction of the stator and at a position where the layers are switched from the n-th layer to the (n+1)-th layer.
