PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a compound acting as ligands for one or more of the melanocortin receptors and a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof; methods of using the compound to treat mammals; and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compound.SOLUTION: This invention relates to: a compound expressed by formula: (RR)-A-c(A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A)-A-R, which acts as ligands for one or more of the melanocortin receptors, and a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof; methods of using the compound to treat mammals; and pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compound. In the pharmaceutical compositions, the compound expressed by the formula is a selective melanocortin-4 receptor agonist with a high functional activity for the human melanocortin 4 receptor.
