<p>The present invention concerns a method for carrying out a handover between base stations of a telecommunication network, wherein each mobile terminal is in communication with a set of base stations including at least a first and a second base stations (50, 60), the first base station (50) receiving downlink data to be transmitted within data packets bearing a downlink sequence number to a first mobile terminal (10) from an access gateway (40) of the telecommunication network, characterized in that it includes the steps executed by the first base station (50) of
- determining (S110) a downlink sequence number,
- sending (S102) a handover request message (HRQ) to the second base station (60) comprising the determined downlink sequence number and information related to the set of base station, requesting the second base station (60) to receive data to be transmitted to the first mobile terminal (10) from the access gateway (40),
- stopping (S113) building data packets to be transmitted to the first mobile terminal from data received from the access gateway if said built data packets would bear a sequence number equal or higher than the determined downlink sequence number,
- then sending (S113) said data received from the access gateway to the second base station,
- receiving data packets to be transmitted to the first mobile terminal from the second base station,
- transmitting directly to the first mobile terminal the data packets to be transmitted to the first mobile terminal received from the second base station,
- receiving (S121) specific data from the access gateway (40) indicating that subsequent data will be now transmitted to the second base station (60), and
- then releasing the dedicated link between said first base station (50) and said access gateway (40). The present invention also concerns a base station and a mobile terminal for implementing such a method.</p> |
