PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer composition that gives a liquid crystal display device having excellent response speed characteristics and contrast characteristics and excellent afterimage characteristics, even with a small irradiation quantity of light on the polymer composition.SOLUTION: The polymer composition comprises (A) a polymer and (B) an organic solvent. The (A) polymer has a group represented by formula (1) below. In the formula (1), Rrepresents a specific photo-reactive group; Rrepresents a single bond or a divalent organic group; Yrepresents a cyclic group having a valence of (u+1) or a nitrogen atom; u represents an integer of 2 to 4, however, when Yis a nitrogen atom, u is 2; and * represents a bond.
