PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film that can suppress interference colors in a view in an oblique direction when the film is mounted on a display device such as a liquid crystal display, and that gives excellent handling property in manufacturing a polarizing plate, a transparent conductive film, or the like.SOLUTION: The polyester film for an optical use shows a retardation of 1500 nm or less at an angle tilted by 50° with respect to a plane orthogonal to an incident direction of a luminous flux. When a given direction within the film plane is defined as a direction X and a direction orthogonal to the direction X is defined as direction Y, the film has a fracture elongation of 50% or more and 200% or less in the direction X and the direction Y, and a tear propagation resistance of 10 N/mm or more and 25 N/mm or less in the direction X and the direction Y. |
