<p>Systems, methods, and devices related to estimating backhaul quality, detecting Internet connectivity, and managing server load are described herein. In some aspects, a wireless device is configured to determine a characteristic of a communication link. The device includes a transmitter configured to transmit a request for a communication from a server. The device further includes a receiver configured to receive the communication from the server, over the communication link, in response to the request. The device further includes a processor configured to compute a target amount of at least one of traffic or time to receive the communication. The processor is further configured to terminate the communication based on the computed time or amount of traffic received. The processor is further configured to determine a characteristic of the communication link based on the communication from the server.</p> |
