A crop stripper band (80) for use on a crop pick-up (10) together with other identical side-by-side mounted crop stripper bands (80) is disclosed. The stripper band (80), when considered in side view in an orientation occupied when mounted on a pick-up (10), includes fore-and-aft extending upper and lower legs (86, 40) having forward ends joined to an arcuate bight section (88) building a stripper band body (82), the stripper band (80) further comprising: said upper leg (86) being constructed of plastic together with a metal reinforcement so as to afford strength for supporting a heavy load of crop; and said lower leg (40) being constructed entirely of plastic and being sufficiently resilient so as to rebound to its original shape after being deflected by contacting a hard object. |
