A reference electrode according to the present invention maintains continuity between an internal liquid and measurement liquid and measures the electrical potential of the measurement liquid even if the measurement liquid in a liquid junction of the reference electrode has air bubbles mixed therein. This reference electrode is provided with: a second body (42) provided with a second internal liquid chamber (36) in which a second internal liquid (15) is housed and a liquid junction part (40) disposed in the second internal liquid chamber (36) such that the second internal liquid (15) and measurement liquid (9) that is to be measured come into contact; and an internal electrode (R) disposed inside the second internal liquid chamber (36). The liquid junction part (40) is formed from a conduction member (41) formed from a porous or fibrous member and an opening (45) adjacent to the conduction member (41).
