<p>A multi-functional coating 250 for an optical device is formed on an optical substrate 20 and comprises first and second functional dots 230, 260 interspersed on the substrate 20. Functional dots 230 have a first function and functional dots 260 have a second different function. The functions may include 2 or more of UV absorber, anti-reflection, anti-scratch, anti-fog, photochromatic colourant. Functional dots 260 have a height H2 greater than the height H1 of functional dots 230. The dots may be formed by an ink jet printer.</p> |
