The present invention relates to a submarine cable management system to which a radio frequency identification (RFID) system is applied, and a method therefor. A submarine cable management system comprises: a submarine cable including multiple RFID tags for storing submarine cable management information including location information of a place at which the submarine cable is installed underwater and unique information of a tag; and a submarine cable management device for managing the submarine cable, wherein the submarine cable management device includes an RFID reader for reading the submarine cable management information from an RFID tag included in the submarine cable, a control unit for analyzing the submarine cable management information received through the RFID reader to calculate a location of a place at which the RFID tag is installed, and outputting a result of processing to display the corresponding location on a map by linking the calculated location with map data, and a display unit for displaying the location of the place at which the RFID tag has been installed, on the map according to the control of the control unit.
