A chip 101-1 including a plurality of unit cells 250; a scanning circuit 203 that scans the unit cells, thereby making each of the unit cells output a signal; a voltage-to-current conversion (V-I) circuit 209; and a current-to-voltage conversion (I-V) circuit 207. The I-V circuit 207 converts a first current signal input into the chip into a first voltage signal which activates the scanning circuit 203. The V-I circuit 209 converts a second voltage signal output from the scanning circuit into a second current signal which is output from the chip. A multichip module is also disclosed comprising first 101-1 and second 101-2 chips, each of which have a plurality of unit cells; a scanning circuit adapted to scan the plurality of unit cells; a V-I circuit; and an I-V circuit. A voltage output from the first chip scanning circuit is converted to a current in the V-I circuit of the first chip. This current signal passes from the first chip to the second chip I-V circuit. This signal controls the start time of the scanning circuit of the second chip. The multichip module may reside in a copier, wherein the unit cells are light sensitive, or may reside in a printer, wherein the unit cells comprise liquid ejecting inkjets. |
