The optionally buried device (1) comprises a tank (2) integrating two superimposed filtration stages (3, 4), and a device (7) for detecting a loss at a bottom part of filtration stage. Each of filtration stages is constituted by successive layers of filtering media extending over a part of the height of the tank. The device comprises a float (8), a visual control, and a connecting unit integrating the float and the visual control. The float is able to rise with the rising water at the last stage of filtration from a lower position. The visual control is visible from outside.
