A sausage stuffing machine comprises a stuffing horn adapted to receive a length of casing which in position exhibits a series of folds, and means for controlling the passage of the casing off the horn, comprising a substantially rigid bifurcated member exerting light pressure against the casing prior to its leaving the horn. The said member may be of a plastic material, such as nylon, having a thickness of less than 1/16 inch. Fig. 1 shows a suitable construction, wherein a plate 19 has mounted on it a bifurcated member 18 and a trough 22. The plate 19 is pivoted at 23, and is held against horn 10 by spring 41, and adjusted by screw 38. This assembly is mounted on plate 24, which is pivoted to frame 27 at 25, and is urged upwards by spring 28. The horn 10 is mounted on stuffer 12, containing valve 13. When the flow of meat is shut off by closing valve 13 by rotating handle 15, handle 15 cooperates with rod 46, pivoted at 49, through adjustable link rod 35, and pin 34 on plate 19, and withdraws member 18 from the vicinity of the horn, enabling the operator to position a fresh casing 16 on the horn. On recommencing the flow of meat, spring 41 returns the assembly on plate 19 to its operating position. |
