This rotary support device comprises a rolling-element bearing and a sensor. The rolling-element bearing comprises a stationary body that does not rotate during use and a plurality of rolling elements that roll along a track formed in part of the stationary body. At least part of the stationary body is a magnetostrictive-effect section, the magnetic permeability of which changes in accordance with the applied load. The sensor is supported, positioned near the magnetostrictive-effect section, by a part that does not rotate during use. The sensor changes an output signal in accordance with magnetic flux that passes through a detection unit in the sensor and changes depending on the magnetic permeability of the magnetostrictive-effect section. |
