A time switch comprises two coaxial rotary discs, e.g. 13, 40, one having a cam face and the other being adapted to rotate a cam follower, e.g. ball 44, along the path provided by the cam face, one of the discs being driven by a clock drive and the other being angularly adjustable for time setting. As shown, disc 13 has a face cam and is angularly adjustable and disc 40 is driven by a synchronous motor and rotates the cam follower 44. The ball 44 is biased against the face cam by a spring 46 which co-operates with a lever 60 actuating a bi-stable contact set 59. Two identical sets of coaxial discs, e.g. 13, 40 and 14, 41 are provided. In the position shown, the left-hand arm 63 of lever 60 is in its lowest position. When disc 40 has rotated sufficiently for ball 44 to be urged into cam recess 51 spring 46 strikes arm 63 of lever 60 and actuates contact set 59. The contact set is actuated to its other position as soon as ball 45 is urged into cam recess 52 of disc 14 even if ball 44 is still in recess 51 because spring 47 is stronger than 46. In Figs. 4, 5, 6 (not shown), the clock-driven disc is a double-sided face cam which cooperates with two angularly adjustable members carrying the balls. The balls are urged into engagement with their respective cam faces by spring-biased pivoted levers which act on a lever of a bi-stable contact set. In this embodiment, which is especially for central heating, temperature controllers are mounted in the same casing. The synchronous motor also drives a clock in each embodiment. |
