The subject of invention is method of wood surface protection against light and agent for implementation of this method, in particular transparent lacquer with addition of metal oxides. Method of wood surface protection against light, wherein the method consists in application onto wood surface of transparent lacquer, favourably water-dilutable, containing addition of yttrium oxide or lanthanide oxide selected from the group: praseodymium(III) oxide, praseodymium(IV) oxide, neodymium(III) oxide, erbium oxide or their mixtures or combination of the oxides in particular layers of lacquer, whilst oxides are used in the form of nanoparticles.
