1,147,378. Producing coloured illumination effects. C. J. DAVIS. 29 June, 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 56713/66. Heading G5C. Light is directed on to a cell 10-13 containing a coloured liquid, and another liquid (or liquids) is injected at one or more of a plurality of different angles through nozzles 16 to effect localized chemical and/or physical changes in the main liquid and thereby produce varied colour effects. As described, the device is adapted for use with a projector 14, 15, the light being transmitted through the cell. The nozzles 16 inject liquids so as to produce pH changes in the cell, which contains suitable indicators. Alternatively the refractive index may be changed by injecting liquids of different densities, e.g. salt solution; or indicators for Clmay be used. Subsidiary effects are obtainable by localized heating, stirring, or using colour filters in the projector. The inlet pipes 17 may be connected to a keyboard.
