This liquid crystal display device has an electrode-constituting layer (7A) provided upon a support substrate (10). The electrode-constituting layer (7A) includes a stripe area (SRA) having a plurality of electrode areas (RE) and a plurality of insulating body areas (RI), arranged alternating therein. The electrode areas (RE) and the insulating body areas (RI) are created by partially reducing or oxidizing a layer comprising one material and by controlling the conductivity thereof. In addition, the electrode areas (RE) are included in at least a pixel electrode or counter electrode in the liquid crystal display device.
