DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING INSTRUMENTS FOR MEASURING THE PRESSURE AND/OR FLOW RATE OF WET GASES

This invention relates to the oil and gas industry and is intended to provide for the efficient functioning of systems for measuring and/or regulating the pressure and/or flow rate of moisture-laden gas in vertical pipes of surface gas collection systems when the surrounding air is at temperatures below zero. The present device for protecting instruments for measuring the pressure and/or flow rate of wet gases comprises a housing in the form of a hollow cylinder having at least one opening. Mounted on the housing is a boss, having a connecting pipe disposed in the upper part thereof for connection to a measuring instrument. Also disposed on the housing, inside the boss, at the top and bottom of said boss, are flow deflectors in the form of plates with drainage holes. A shell is secured on the housing, between the flow deflectors. A measuring plate or a Venturi tube or a Venturi nozzle may be situated below the housing. The connecting pipe for connection to a measuring instrument is situated parallel to the housing. An additional boss may be disposed on the housing, diametrically opposite the first boss. The bosses can be of different lengths and can be provided with bypass pipes. The deflectors are disposed above the inlet and below the outlet of said bypass pipes. The top part of the boss with the connecting pipe is enclosed in a detachable thermal casing. A service opening with a plug is disposed in the bottom part of the boss. Fins may be provided on the surface of the bypass pipe and also inside the thermal casing on the surface of the housing. The aim of the invention is to reduce (prevent) energy expenditure on heating the gas, and also to increase the efficiency of the process by preventing hydrate and ice formation.
