A rotary disc valve comprises a housing 112 having inlet and outlet ducts 116, 118 extending to and from a valve chamber 120. An obturator 122 is located in the valve chamber and is displaceable between open and closed positions that either allow or stop fluid flow through the valve chamber. A spindle 124 is mounted for rotation relative to the housing and has a distal end extending into the valve chamber 120 upon which the obturator 122 is mounted. The spindle 124 and housing 112 cooperate to provide a continuous metal to metal seal 142 comprising a plurality of discreet, substantially concentric annular contact areas (180, Fig. 5) between the spindle and housing. |
