The present invention achieves improved reliability and reduced manufacturing cost by simplifying a circuit by effectively suppressing sub vibration and thereby eliminating the need for a filter and the like for suppressing the sub vibration. A piezoelectric vibrating reed (10) comprises a vibrating reed body (11) having a vibrating part (12), and at least a pair of excitation electrodes (14, 15) formed, respectively, in a front surface (12a) and a back surface (12b) of the vibrating part (12). The vibrating reed body (11) is a two-fold rotation crystal vibrating reed that is cut out parallel to an X''Z'' plane that is rotated about a Z-axis among crystallographic axes of a crystal and further rotated about an X'-axis, and the pair of excitation electrodes (14, 15) are arranged in a Z'''-axis direction defined by an X''' axis that is rotated counterclockwise 260°-300° about a Y'' axis with reference to a +X'' direction, and are disposed obliquely with respect to a Y''-axis direction. |
