Disclosed are a probe head system of a gear measuring device and a method for controlling the same. The probe head system of a gear measuring device comprises: a main body of a gear measuring device; a measuring head installed in the gear measuring device main body; an LM guide for supporting the measuring head to be moved in the gear measuring device main body; a moving block moved along the LM guide; a measuring probe for measuring a work gear by a measuring ruler, and for causing displacement when there is a difference from a theoretical value; a micrometer for measuring the amount of displacement by receiving the displacement of the measuring probe; a variable recovery means having buffer capacity with respect to a mechanical collision according to an input signal error or for allowing the measuring probe to move back; and a controlling part for moving and controlling the measuring probe, and for determining and managing the reading result of the micrometer. Therefore, provided is a gear measuring head system having high stability by mechanically buffering an error caused by collision and having less system errors and failures.
