BACK LIGHT UNIT AND DISPLAY DEVICE HAVING THE SAME

A display device includes a display substrate, an opposed substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a backlight unit. The opposed substrate is opposed to the display substrate, and is coupled with the display substrate. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the display substrate and the opposed substrate. The backlight unit is disposed on a lower side of the opposed substrate, and provides light toward the display substrate. The backlight unit includes multiple bottom chassis, first lower molds, and light sources. Each of the bottom chassis includes an accommodating unit, and side walls extended from the accommodating unit. The first lower molds are disposed between the bottom chassis, and coupled with the side walls. The light sources are disposed over the accommodating unit and generate light. Since the backlight unit is formed by using the bottom chassis, reduction in stiffness according to expansion of a size of the bottom chassis may be prevented, so reliability of the display device may be improved.
